The Narrative of Victor Karloch

November 27, 2011 By Puppeteers of America

from TheSpiritCabinet.com –

“Victor Karloch is a Victorian ghost story puppet film and live stage performance (at selected theaters) produced by Heather Henson’s Handmade Puppet Dreams Films and The Jim Henson Foundation.  A special performance of the project will benefit The Art of Elysium, a charity that encourages artists to help children battling serious medical conditions.

The film incorporates 30″ tall bunraku-style rod puppets, shadow puppetry, traditional in-camera effects, and digital atmospheric effects to present a gothic tale narrated by Victor Karloch, an alchemist, ghost hunter, and scholar who has devoted his life to the exploration of the supernatural.

Originally conceived as a radio drama that was presented for a Youth Blind of America Halloween Benefit (in which groups of sight impaired students listened to a surround sound version of the story in a room that was outfitted with scent machines and water misting  machines that were triggered at different points of the story), The Narrative of Victor Karloch was converted into a puppet film idea in 2009.”
