Calling all Puppeteers! We know you love The Puppetry Journal, and puppet festivals are a thrill, but now P of A needs YOU to help make the organization the best that it can be!

We are currently recruiting members to serve on committees and to help fill a variety of volunteer positions. Volunteering is a fun and engaging way to experience how a national organization works, and allows you to directly contribute to our mission. It also provides an opportunity for you to network with puppeteers across the country while building up your business and administrative skills.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of the positions below, please send a brief e-mail summarizing your interest and experience to our Executive Director Paul Robinson at execdir@puppeteers.org.

We look forward to working with you!

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS NEEDED

We need a few folks to serve as evaluators for the applications. This job entails reading all the applications with in an allotted  time frame and evaluating them with a provided set of criteria. Time commitment: About 30 hours once every 2 years, typically during the month of February, and reports to Katie McCLenahan, Scholarship Committee Chair.

The job entails changing the cover photo, responding to messages, making posts, and overseeing content. Time commitment: About 10 to 20 minutes a week. Reports to: Steve Abrams, Web Advisor.

Bloggers: Like writing about puppetry? Want to see your name on the homepage of puppeteers.org? We are looking for puppeteers to cover particular interest areas for the P of A blog, such as puppet history; film, TV, and web video; news from the puppetry centers, etc. Blog articles will appear on the PofA homepage and will be circulated through social media. Time commitment: we ask that bloggers commit to a 1-year term, and generate at least one post ever two weeks. Reports to: Z. Briggs, Web Master. To be considered for this position, please submit a sample blog post, under 200 words.

Graphic Designers: Help P of A look great online and in print! We need creative visual artists to design promotional materials for the organization. Sample projects include postcards, brochures, posters, letterhead, web graphics, etc. Applicants should be experienced with graphic design and familiar with Illustrator, Photoshop, or a comparable design program. Time commitment: 5 – 10 hours per project. Reports to: Paul Robinson, Executive Director. This job is on going and will be engaged on a project by project basis. To be considered for this position, please send samples of your previous work.

Committee Members and Leaders: P of A is a volunteer-run organization, and there are LOTS of committees that could use your help. You can see what committees are active on the Appointed Officers page (scroll down to the bottom). Let us know where you think your skills and interests would be a good fit!
